3. Always use standard filters
The biggest ongoing saving: standard MERV-13 (~£40/yr) not proprietary cartridges (£80–150/yr). Over years this dwarfs the purchase price.
Avoid false economy
Cheap low-MERV or "washable" filters don't clean fine particles — a false saving. Genuine MERV-13 is the value sweet spot.
